If you’ve been thinking about owning an NSX, your window of opportunity has shrunk and the stakes have gotten much higher. Acura’s supercar is entering its final production year and orders are opening on August 12th. What’s coming to wrap up the model is the 2022 Acura NSX Type S with only 350 being built for distribution worldwide, and just 300 of those are for the US.

Here’s what we know so far, and what you need to do to get your very own Acura NSX Type S.

What’s the Acura NSX Type S all about?

Acura has released only a few details so far, and the rest will come to light on August 12th. Built in the very same Performance Manufacturing Center as previous NSX models, the Type S will have an enhanced 3.5L twin-turbo V6 and Sport Hybrid SH-AWD system (as if it wasn’t already mind-blowing). What type of enhancements? You’ll find out exactly what’s different on August 12th.

The NSX Type S will also feature a numbered plate and a unique ‘Type S’ aero design to attract even more attention. Expect similar treatments as other models with Type S variants: embossed floor mats and seatbacks, exterior badging, and perhaps a distinct color combination.

We also know that the very first Acura NSX Type S is going under the gavel. VIN #001 will be auctioned live on TV with proceeds going toward charities like the Center of Science and Industry and STEAM youth education. It’s going to be auctioned off at the Mecum auction block on August 14th at their Monterey, California event.

Although it ends an era for Acura, the NSX Type S’ exit paves the way for a new model. What will it be? Nothing has been confirmed, but it could be an all-electric supercar…
